Finally Being Creative - Bridal Shower Gift

This weekend I attended my work colleague Megan's bridal shower/kitchen tea. Traditionally for events like these you are ment to give the bride 'to be' a gift for her kitchen... These days most people already live out of home and have collect there household items and i didn't want to be the person who gave her ANOTHER set of tea towels.

I wanted to do something a bit different and creative. (FINALLY I've made something this year!!!)

So i made up a 'Hen's Night Kit'.

I made a set of badges for her and her friends to wear out to there night of girly fun. The set included a bunch of badges for all her friends to wear with informed everyone that they are apart of 'Megan's Buckette Party' and then Megan herself received three badges... A 'Bride To Be', 'Megan & Matt Forever' and '5th May 2012' (There wedding date) badge. The 'Bride To Be' badge was made a little more fancy with a cute ruffled ribbon around it AND i also made and extra 'Bride To Be' badge into a ring.

All the badges were designed to match the theme on her hen's party invitation and I think the whole kit came out looking pretty awesome.

I oragamied (I dont know if thats a real word) up some gift boxes and made a cute little card too. The ruffled badge was the decoration for the card and the rest of the goodies were tucked away inside.

It was something nice and different which i think showed the amount of time and thoughts i put into her gift. Plus i think she really liked it.

There's a little OCD in all of us

Over the years i've learnt that everyone is a little obsessive compulisive. They might avoid walking on cracks in the footpath, Feel the need to wash their hands more regularly then most or smell everything they look at (I'm looking at you BJ).

There is nothing wrong with this... It's something that really fansinates me.
So i thought i'd share with you some of my little obsessive behaviours which tend to go unnoticed by most people.

1./ mm's have to be eaten in order by colour - Lightest to Darkest.
I will grab out a handful, line them up in order on my desk and then munch on them one at a time. When i get to the last ones and i get stuck with lot's of one colour i will order them lightest to darkest as best i can until i can't anymore. (This isn't my only candy related obsessive behaviour, but i'll be here all night if i list them all.)

2./ I'm constantly cleaning my ears.
I hate the feeling of water in my ears so after every shower i get out the cotton bud and clean out my ears. Sometimes i'll just feel like i need to clean one but once i start on one i have to do both.

3./ I like to tweeze.
I can't help it... I see a hair that needs removing and our come the tweezers and i go crazy. BJ hates being around me at this time because once i'm done with me... It's his turn!!

4./ When i'm nervous or uncomfortable i play with my ring.
I've had this ring since i turned 16 and i'm always wearing it. I will spin it, stare at it and distract myself with it if i'm in an uncomfortable situation.

5./I have to have a little bit of everything.
I'm like Adam Richman when i'm eating a meal, I need to try and get a little bit of everything on my plate in my mouth in one bite. I can't just eat the meat, then the potatoes then the vegies etc... That's not how i roll.

So there is an insight to SOME of my little obsessive behaviours... Let me know what you OC behaviours are.

Resin Course

I had an awesome weekend, let me tell you.

As some of you know i had a bit of trouble with my resin when i first started using it. I was getting a LOT of bubbles and really wasn't happy with my finished products. So this Saturday i went out to Richmond and dis a Resin Jewelry course to see if i was doing something wrong or if i just got a bad batch.

I came out of the course with a beautiful matching ring and cuff bracelet set. And a not soo beautiful one. hehehheee.

My Success!

My Failure!

The successful one came out as a shimmery copper colour. I think it is just stunning.
The failure. Was ment to be a transparent orange with black wire embedded inside. With others on the day having complications also, we decided the failure was due to a bad batch of resin. Which is a shame because it would have been super cool.

I bought some more supplies whilst there. More colours and I have a heap of ideas to test out.
I'm going to make some different molds and have a play with colours and embedding and ill see what i can come up with.

I would love you know what you think of the bangle and ring styles in my pictures. The Copper one is a cuff, with a square top ring, the reject is a unusual shape with a ripple around the outside of it, and a square ring which waves in and out.
