What The Flock - Audrey's Three!

This week Audrey celebrated her 3rd birthday and it's been a full week of festivities.

It was a really fun one this year. I've been looking forward to the year that Audrey picks the theme for her party and she didn't disappoint when she picked a FLAMINGO PARTY!

I got her to decide about 3 months ago so I could get started on planning and prepping everything. Which has meant that for the last 3 months she's told us that 'tomorrow is her birthday' and we've had to explain that she was wrong.

It's been a full on year with the shop and i've been single parenting it a lot because of BJ's hours and i've been feeling really guilty about Aude having to spend a lot of time at home while i'm working my two jobs so I wanted to throw her a really fun party. I needed as much time as possible to make this party happen.

Audrey made a list of who she wanted to invite and I did the rest. I designed the invitations, made the decorations, the snacks and the cake of course.

I design all of our invitations and I had a lot of fun with this one. Really happy with how it turned out.

Once the invitation was out of the way I planned out all the other decorations and started bringing them to life. The thing I actually slacked on this year was the cake. I usually have a very detailed plan of what i'm going to make with drawings and even test cakes but this year I just had a vague idea of what I wanted to do. I whipped together the topper the week before her party and the rest of the cake I threw together the day before.

I also managed to find a few minutes to chuck together some cute cookies.

I was really proud of the paper garland I made for the wall. I honestly wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but I spent ages with my silhouette curio cutting out all the leaves and flowers and am really happy with the final result. It's been hanging up for 2 weeks now because I didn't want to have to do EVERYTHING on the day of the party. And it may be up for another 3 hahaha.

On top of the decorations we had a couple of games. Flamingo ring toss and Pass the parcel. Wasn't sure how Pass the parcel was going to go with a bunch of 3 year olds but it was a total success. And lastly, I couldn't resist in getting a giant inflatable flamingo for the kids to go nuts on. Surprisingly, it didn't pop and it was a huge hit.
Best $20 ever spent!

Goodbye 2012...

Well here we are again... Another year about to come to an end.

2012 has been a HUGE year for me and even though there have been some down moments mostly it's been a great year.

The year started off perfectly with BJ and I moving into our house. We've spent the year doing little home improvements and really making it our own.

And we ended this year getting engaged. After 7 wonderful years together we are both very excited to be getting married... in 2013!!!

I've finally let go off stressing about my work as our office is doing the best it's ever done and that is all thanks to our amazing team. I don't mind that i've had to go in and do what a few times over my Christmas holidays as it just means that things aren't going to slow down for us - Which is great news.

I havent blogged as much as i'd hoped to, or stuck to a lot of my goals this year but i am going to make up for all that in 2013. I'm motivated more then every to get healthy, get crafty and get bloggin'.

And now in no particular order here are some awesome things that i've seen and hear this year...

Awesome movies I've seen this year:
The Avengers
Take Shelter
The Muppets
Moonrise Kingdom
The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Awesome albums I've heard this year:
Jack White - Blunderbuss
Alabama Shakes - Boys & Girls
The Black Keys - El Camino
Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeroes - Here
Bon Iver - Bon Iver

Awesome TV I've watched:
Breaking Bad
AMC's The Walking Dead
Game Of Thrones
Mad Men
Treme
(And honorable mention to Boardwalk Empire... I could keep listing because there has been some AWESOME TV this year)

Favourite Fork This episode for 2012:

Homemade Wrapping

This year BJ and I decided to save money we'd make a lot of our own gifts (Blog about that coming soon) and we made our own wrapping paper and gift tags also.

I had a roll of brown packing paper and an idea. I carved some awesome stamps of Christmas trees and holly and BJ designed some beautiful gift tags with a very 50's feel to them.

We stamped the hell out of the paper, tied them up with some twine and attached the tag. They looked fantastic. I'm soo happy with how they all turned out and I will continue to use this style of wrapping, Making different tags and stamps to suit the theme of the gift.

Here are some photos of the gifts.. Let me know what you think

We Love Colors Review

A couple of months ago i was in our local shopping center and i walked past Ishka peering into their window. I stopped as soon as i saw all the manikin's wearing these awesome bright coloured tights.

The tights stood out soo much i they were all i talked about for awhile.

A couple of weeks later i went with my sister and we both bought some as they were on sale.

The tights are by a company called We Love Colors and once we found this out we both went home and did some online window shopping.

They have a HUGE range of tights with more colours then i've ever seen available.

I've never been much of a tights wearer as i found my legs were too big and that they didn't look good.
But i decided to give them a go as they were soo pretty.

The pair i bought from Ishka were Turquoise. I loved them soo much that i bought a pair of Maroon and Hunter Green as well.

As Ishka they only have S/M sized tights so i crossed my fingers that they'd fit. And they did. But i felt that i was constantly having to wiggle them up and re-adjust them to feel comfortable.

So when i ordered the other two pairs (directly from the We Love Colors site during a Free shipping to Australia deal) I got them in M/L.

They fit perfectly and i didn't feel the need to adjust them so often.
The turquoise one's have stretched a bit now and are a lot better then they were first wear, but i think in future i will continue to get the M/L as my legs are quiet long.

These tights are fantastic. The are thick but not too thick that you can't wear them on warmer days.
The colours are bold and even when i've stretched them out over my large thighs they still look like a solid colour.

One of my biggest things about tights is that i have leg tattoos and i don't like how my tattoo's look when i have tights on. I love the We Love Colors tights because you can't see through them so i don't end up looking like i'm wearing tights with fake tattoo's printed on them... I'm not one of those people.

AND their variety isn't just with the colours... They have leggings, footless, 3/4 length. They have different materials from microfiber to Lycra and they also do fishnets and socks in these awesome colours too.

I will continue to buy tights from We Love Color as I LOVE them.
PLUS There customer service is GREAT.

Here are some photos of some cute outfit's i've put together with my awesome tights.

~ Turquoise ~

~ Hunter Green ~

~ Maroon ~

My sister also order some pairs of tights. She got funky striped ones to wear when she's Hula Hooping. I took a couple of photos to add.

~ Scout Green and White Stripes ~

I recommend We Love Colors to anyone looking for some funky, good quality tights.
